2011 World Age Championships

A big congratulations to our four Australian representatives who have just finished their world championships campaign. It has been an extremely successful competition for our Castle Hill athletes.

Matthew Weal started us off by collecting a bronze medal in the U19 men's synchronised event with his partner Patrick Cooper from Queensland. Matt achieved 6th place in the DMT event, a huge achievement given the high quality field dominated by the Russians and Americans.

Kira Ward collected a bronze medal in the  U13 women's DMT. Kira was leading going into the final before slipping back to 3rd place after some high scoring passes by the Russian competitors. Kira has competed well in the individual trampoline event finishing in 17th position. Kira and her partner Zoe Nay from Queensland completed their routine but unfortunately did not qualify for the final.

Leanne Van Rensburg and Dominic Clarke completed high quality routines placing them in 12th and 15th places respectively.
Dom and his synchro partner Jarrod Archer competed well to make the final of the U15 mens synchro event finishing in 7th place. Leanne had a last minute change to her synchronised partner after her partner sustained an injury preventing her from competing. They were still able to complete a strong routine but unfortunately missed out on the final.

Congratulations to Matt, Leanne, Dom and Kira and coaches Belinda and Damian on a fantastic competition!

2011 Trampoline World Championships - Senior Elite

A big congratulations to Jessie Tulett who placed 22nd in her first World Championship competition. Jessie put up 2 solid DMT passes and assisted the Women’s Team to finish in 6th place.

Despite an excellent lead up and training regime leading into the World Championships, Bethany Bailey was not able complete her second routine on trampoline.

Belinda Cox the Australian DMT coach said she was pleased with Jessie’s and the DMT teams performance and was disappointed for Bethany.

Castle Hill RSL Trampoline - Runner Up National Club Champions!

Castle Hill RSL Trampoline Athletes travelled to Hobart on July 29 – 31st to take part in the World Age Team Selection Trial and the 2011 National Club Chamionships.

On Friday night, four athletes took part in the final World Age Team trial where they performed creditably. Matthew Weal took out the 17+ event in both Trampoline and DMT. Leanne Van Rensburg won the U17 trampoline event, and Dominic Clarke (U15) and Kira Ward (U13) secured second place in both trampoline and DMT in their respective age groups. We are now patiently awaiting the naming of the National Age Team which should take place any day now for the World Championships in Birmingham England in November.

Following the WAG trial, Castle Hill RSL had 19 athletes compete in the 2 day National Clubs Championships. All our athletes did us proud in their respective events, with the club coming in 2nd in the Overall National Club Championship standing! Other team results included:

  • 2nd Overall in the Trampoline Discipline
  • 3rd Overall in the Double Mini Discipline
  • 2nd Overall in the Elite Levels
  • 2nd Overall in Level 7
  • 2nd Overall in Level 6
  • 3rd Overall in Level 5

The stand out individual results came from Imogen Florian in achieving 2 National Levels Titles – Level 5 Trampoline and Level 4 DMT; Leanne Van Rensburg in achieving a title in Level 7 womens DMT and backing this up with a third place in Level 8 Trampoline, Megan Adams in winning the level 6 title in trampoline in women and Brendan Weal in level 6 men. Special mention goes to Matthew Weal in achieving two silver medals in the top event of the competition – Level 9-10 mens trampoline and DMT.

This is the best ever National Clubs result for the Castle Hill RSL trampoline program and a huge achievement!

Results for all athletes are list below.

Congratulations to all athletes on their fantastic performances!

A huge thank you goes to the Coaches, Judges and Chaperones for all their time, effort and dedication both inside and outside the gym!
