Beginners Recreation
Our Recreational Gymnastics program is for school children 5-12 years and is a non-competitive program in which children develop gymnastics skills, strength, flexibility, co-ordination and have plenty of fun.
Recreational gymnastics classes at Castle Hill run for an hour on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (4.00-5.00pm; 5.00-6.00pm; 6.00-7.00pm) as well as Saturday mornings (8.00-9.00am; 9.00-10.0am). Children are placed in squad groups (based on age) of 8-10 children per coach where they learn basic gymnastics movements and skills on the various apparatus.
Membership is a 10 week term program with assessment and reporting during the term.
Castle Hill RSL Gymnastics Club is a 5 star quality assurance club and we have reputation as a leading club in the Hills district for both boys and girls, developing your child’s skills in a safe and fully equipped facility.
Due to the popularity of this program we are now fully booked for Term 1 2012.
If you would like to be placed on our wait list for vacancies in Term 2 or later in 2012 please complete the following form or contact the office.

Castle Hill RSL Gymnastics also runs a gymnastics holiday program – children participating in this program can be placed on our priority waitlist for the following term recreational program.
Our Coaches
Our coaches are qualified through the National Coaching Accreditation System (NCAS) and are affiliated with Gymnastics NSW and Gymnastics Australia.
Sometimes an assistant or junior coach will work together with an NCAS accredited coach, these assistant/junior coaches are in the process of training and become accredited.
Progression into competitive programs
Children are moved into the competitive levels programs for Men’s Gymnastics (MAG), Women’s Gymnastics (WAG) and Trampoline (TRP) if they are showing potential for gymnastics and/or have achieved specific gymnastics skills.
Assessment Week
In week 7 of each term we use a Reporting System to assess your child’s development. This is important part of our Recreational Program and it will gauge how your child is progressing, what their strengths are and areas they can improve.
If you are away for Assessments, we do not repeat it until next term so try to do a makeup class on another day in that week.
This reporting system is built on each term to gain a progressive report of your child’s development.
A copy of this report along with a participation certificate will be presented at the last week of Term.
If you wish to discuss your child’s progress, please call the office or speak with your child’s coach at the end of class.
Communication
Our best way to communicate with you is through Email or Mobile Phone SMS so be sure to update these with Administration. This can be in the form of reminders or confirmation of Classes, Competitions and Events.
What to wear and bring
Because gymnastics is a sport that requires free movement we request that your child comes appropriately attired for class.
We suggest that girls wear tight fitting shorts (eg. bike pants) and their Castle Hill RSL gymnastics t-shirt (provided free upon enrolment) or a leotard (with or without shorts). Long hair must be tied back and off the face.
We suggest boys wear sports shorts and their Castle Hill RSL gymnastics t-shit (provided free upon enrolment).
All children should have bare feet (shoes may be left in pigeon holes on the way in).
The gym has a bubbler/water cooler, however you may want to bring a drink bottle for your child.
